Venie Holmgren is noted for the strength and clarity of her presentation and for a long standing commitment to widening the appeal of poetry. She has for many years been performing her work in numerous provincial centres and in capital cities; Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Hobart, at a wide variety of venues; pubs, cafes, theatres, prisons, poetry festivals, at peace and environmental rallies and in health centres for the elderly and infirm. She has read at Heidelberg University in Germany, Georgetown University, Washington DC, and was an invited guest at the 1998 6th Austin International Poetry Festival in the USA.

She has worked with primary and secondary school students in NSW and in Tasmania.
