Belconnen Entertainers and Artists Network

(1) Annual Subsciption is $25.00 or $15.00 concession for individuals and $100.00 per annum for organisations and groups.

(2) Advantages of Membership:

2.1 General Access to Arts Information: As a member of BEAN you will have access to a number of benefits including information about exhibitions, arts grants and other performing and visual arts opportunities in the ACT and Australia-wide.

2.2 Free Monthly Meeting Space: The Art Space will be made available in 2000 for a monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of each month.

2.3 Free BEAN Noticeboard: Located outside the Art Space will be made available during 2000 to display access information relevant to Belconnen artists as well as information about current performances and visual arts events.

2.4 Guest Speakers: A program of guest speakers will be devised for 2000 based on interest expressed from BEAN members.

2.5 Professional Development Opportunities. In conjunction with the program of guest speakers, individual artists will be given professional development opportunities through access to seminars on a variety of topics and a program of slide talks by other artists in a friendly, supportive environment

2.6 Other Professional Development Opportunities:

2.6.1 Opportunity to participate in Belconnen Theatre First Night Series for new acts, especially performers, directors, choreographers and producers.

2.6.2 Opportunity to exhibit in the Belconnen Gallery. The Belconnen Gallery is available during the year for solo, joint and community group artists exhibitions. A program will be drawn up annually featuring a balance of these preferred groups. Please apply to the Gallery Co-Ordinator for a Policy and Conditions of Use prior to submitting an application.

2.6.3 Further Exhibiting Opportunities for Visual Artists:During the year a number of exhibiting opportunities will become available for artists working in a diverse range of media. BEAN is organising two group shows for members' participation, "Rear View Mirror" in the Belconnen Gallery in June and "Boorowa" (a selected exhibition) at Galleria del Centro in Boorowa in September

2.6.4 Belconnen Art Awards: Further annual exhibiting opportunities will be available through the Annual Art Awards. During 2000 these will be held during the National Multicultural Festival in March.

2.6.5 Workshop Access and Discounts - Belconnen Art Space. The Belconnen Community Centre has a ventilated/air-conditioned art studio suitable for holding small workshops. This area is suitable for drawing, painting, textile and other types of art workshops. Discounted rates will be negotiated for BEAN members who wish to conduct workshops as well as assistance with promotion.

2.6.6 Performance Space Access and Discounts - Belconnen Theatre. For preferred groups there will be no charge for use of the external light box advertising. Additionally, there will be a reduced charge for non-performance days for two weeks or longer theatre hire. Assistance can be negotiated with providing ticketing and promotion.

2.6.7 Further Professional Development Opportunities: As members of Canberra Arts Marketing, members of BEAN will be advised of professional development opportunities available through the Professional Development program.

2.6.8 The Network: In order for the network to operate effectively and at a low cost, members of BEAN are asked to attend the monthly meeting, held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6.00 pm (no meeting in January). If it is not possible to attend, the BEAN noticeboard is updated weekly providing a lively bulletin board of information about arts events.
